(01) How it’s done
On the day
Taken from the morning blood draw. There is no sugar drink and no waiting.
It is reported with your fasting glucose and insulin so the physician can see how hard your body is working to keep sugar steady.
(02) Why it matters
What it tells us
HbA1c reflects your average blood sugar over the last three months. It rises years before diabetes is diagnosed.
That early window is when it is easiest to bring down, usually with strength training, sleep and changes to when and what you eat.
(03) Same system
Metabolism & blood
Measured on the same day, read by the same physician.
