(01) How it’s done
On the day
A low-dose DEXA scan of the hip and spine while you lie still on the table for ten minutes.
The radiation dose is less than a day of natural background radiation.
(02) Why it matters
What it tells us
Bone loss is silent until a fracture. The T-score compares your bones with a healthy thirty-year-old.
Measuring it in your forties gives you a decade to act, mostly with heavy strength training, protein, vitamin D and, when needed, medication.
(03) Same system
Body & strength
Measured on the same day, read by the same physician.
